Anybody can grow lettuce as long as you have the passion to do it. Either by gardening with soil or gardening without soil using Hydroponics system.

How to Grow Lettuce, Hydroponics or Garden Soil

1. Germination

There are many ways of germinating lettuce seeds, you can sow it directly to garden soil

or use coco coir as a medium to grow it. Use coco coir only if you intend to grow lettuce in hydroponics system.

2. Types of Lettuce

There are several types of lettuce, romaine lettuce and iceberg lettuce to name a few.

Choosing a variety of lettuce will be based on your locations climate. Iceberg lettuce

growing temperatures are 73ºF (23ºC) during the day and 45ºF (7ºC) at night. While Romaine lettuce can grow in warm weather.

3. Hydroponics System or Gardening with soil

To grow lettuce in your backyard, you can choose between Gardening with soil or Hydroponics system. Gardening with soil requires bigger area in your Green House

while Hydroponics system uses smaller area . Hydroponics system has more pros than soil gardening, although it requires more attention. But in terms of production and product quality it is much better than gardening with soil.
